Saint John Police are still trying to identify human remains found in the uptown area.

The remains were recovered from the water at Long Wharf on Tuesday afternoon.

An autopsy was conducted the following day and determined the remains belong to a female.

After further examination by a forensic anthropologist, police said it is now believed the remains belong to a female between 17 and 30 years old and 5’4″ to 5’7″ tall.

“Forensic Services are working to establish identity through the National DNA databank for missing persons and the Major Crime Unit is gathering intelligence on missing person cases from outside our area,” police said in a news release on Saturday evening.

Investigators have not been able to determine the cause, manner, and time of death at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
