Human Remains Recovered From Long Wharf Are Female

The investigation continues in Saint John after human remains were recovered from Long Wharf.

On Tuesday, at approximately 2:03 p.m. emergency crews responded to a report of human remains in the water at Long Wharf.

Saint John Police and the Saint John Fire Department assisted in recovering the remains from the water.

As well, the Major Crime Unit, Forensic Services, and the Coroner were called to the scene.

On Wednesday, an autopsy was conducted.

“At this time, no identification can be made; however, the remains belong to a female,” reads a release from the Saint John Police Force.

“Through investigation, forensic examination, and testing, Major Crime, Forensic Services, and the Coroner’s office continue their efforts to establish identity, including the age of the female,” the release reads.

Cause, manner, and time of death are pending further investigation.

Saint John Police added in the release that the force does not have any recently reported missing females from the jurisdiction.

The Major Crime Unit is currently gathering intelligence on missing person cases from outside our area.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
