Efficiency reviews will be a big focus for the Saint John Police Force over the coming months.

The police force is in the process of bringing a new records management system online later this spring.

Staff Sgt. Sean Rocca said they are also in the midst of a months-long operational staffing review.

“It’s really a complete look at the organization,” Rocca, a spokesperson for the force, said in an interview in December.

Rocca said the review will look at whether the force has the proper resources in place and if they are being used in the best way possible.

“We’re hoping to deploy some of our current members back to the frontline. It’s important that we have as many officers as possible on the frontline to respond to calls for service.”

In addition, Rocca said the review will also look at whether the force needs to hire additional officers, and how many.

The force hopes to have the review completed early in 2024, according to a December update of its strategic plan.
