A Cape Breton Regional Police officer has been charged after an investigation by the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).

They say that on January 8, 2023, a member of the public alerted them of an incident involving the officer related to a breach of an undertaking. Just two days later, they received another complaint from a separate person, against the officer over reckless driving.

After investigating further, the SiRT charged the officer with one count of breach of an undertaking, and one count of careless and Imprudent Driving.

He is scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial court on October 5 and 6.

The SiRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
