Two officers with the Ontario Provincial Police have been taken to hospital in Dryden after they were attacked with an edged weapon while responding to a call last night.

They, along with a third officer, responded to a Pitt Avenue home around 8:30 p.m. for an assault.

Upon arrival all three were attacked by the accused, with two receiving serious but non life-threatening injuries.

They were taken to hospital by Northwest EMS, meanwhile the third officer received minor injuries, but did not require to be taken to hospital.

One person has been taken into custody and police are reassuring residents there is no threat to public safety.

However, an enhanced police presence will be seen in the area as the investigation continues.

This is a developing story and more details will be released as they become available.
