Expired plates leads to drug trafficking charges

Two city residents have been arrested by Thunder Bay Police on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop the result of expired plates.

Officers on patrol stopped the vehicle on Pruden Street at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, and after speaking to the driver it was discovered both suspects were possibly in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

Further investigation resulted in the seizure of undisclosed amounts of crystal meth, and fentanyl along with items consistent with drug trafficking.

A 40 year old woman has been charged with:
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Meanwhile a 44 year old man faces the charges of:
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Both appeared in bail court Monday and have been remanded into custody.
