A strike vote could be held next week by the union representing City of Saint John workers.

This includes 911 dispatch, recreation, financials and customer service.

CUPE 486 claims negotiations for a collective agreement have been stalled since mid-August.

The City states they are committed to reaching a deal and they feel they have a fair and reasonable offer on the table.

They are optimistic an agreement can be reached, But are taking steps to have contingency plans in place should a disruption occur.

The City of Saint John and the Board of Police Commissioners of the City of Saint John say negotiations began in June 2022, and the City has met with the union a total of 26 times, including twice in July 2023 with a conciliator appointed by the province.
