A 17-year-old teenager is charged with manslaughter after a death on the Halifax waterfront.

Police say it was around 9:40pm on August 6 when they were called to a disturbance on the 1500 Block of Lower Water Street. There, they found Davelle Rodney Vance Desmond unresponsive on the boardwalk.

The 26-year-old was taken to hospital where he later died.

An autopsy ruled the death a homicide.

The suspect turned himself in yesterday.

He will appear in court today.
