The boat launch at the Moncrief Construction Sports Center will be open this weekend, but construction work in the area will take a little longer than expected.

The city says due to unforeseen circumstances, there is a change to the re-opening of the boat launch and parking lot.

The site will be open from Saturday until Tuesday to allow for Labor Day traffic.

But work will continue after that and run from Wednesday, September 5th until the 13, reopening on Thursday, September 14th.

Titan Contractors says it has encountered significant bedrock while replace the water line, resulting in delays in the project.

In the meantime, 1st Avenue South from Safeway to the Mike Richards Way will be closed all day today.

That’s because of a water main break yesterday morning.

The city is asking motorists to detour around the area.
