A popular airline is going to stop its non-stop flight between Calgary and Halifax this fall.

Halifax Stanfield International Airport says since the spring they expected the direct route would end in the summer and only operate once a day, until late October.

In an email they told our newsroom, “Airlines make seasonal adjustments to best allocate their crew and aircraft throughout their network.”

The airport says several direct flights stop after the summer season, with a slower travel time being late fall into early winter.

WestJet will continue their direct flights, with routes about 8 or 9 times a week.

The airport says Air Canada will increase seating capacity by about 12% between January and April 2024, on Halifax routes operating between Toronto, Montreal, Tampa, Orlando, Punta Cana and Cancun.
