Mitton becomes first Canadian woman to win a shot put medal at Worlds

It’s history for a Nova Scotia athlete on the world stage.

Sarah Mitton has become the first Canadian woman to win a shot put medal at at the World Athletics Championships.

Mitton is from Brooklyn in Queens County and had a season best throw of 20.08m in the final in Budapest.

It was strong enough to pick up the silver medal on Saturday. Her best throw came in her fifth throw out of six.
