One of the many items discussed with provincial officials at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference was a safe sobering site for Thunder Bay.

While its not the crisis centre which city officials have been trying to get for some time, Councillor Kristen Oliver says this will help address some of the issue.

“This is sort of a moving target, because as we’ve seen certainly over the past year the need is growing greater and greater, and so sometimes I feel like it slips above the waterline in how we deal with this.

The site would operate as a stop gap by providing food, beverages, medical and other forms of short term care.
