Police investigate 4 arsons in Saint John’s north end

Saint John police say a rash of recent fires in the city’s north end has been deemed arson.

Police say fires have taken place at four vacant buildings, including three over the past week.

The first blaze happened in the 10-block of Millidge Street around 8:45 p.m. on July 1.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, a fire broke out at a two-storey building in the 100-block of Victoria Street around 5:45 a.m.

The third fire happened around 3:10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, at a three-storey building in the 10-block of First Street.

The most recent blaze occurred in a three-storey building at the corner of Metcalf and Elgin streets around 6:10 a.m. Thursday.

“Investigators from the Major Crime Unit and the Saint John Fire Department are seeking witnesses and information in connection with these suspicious fires,” police said in a news release on Friday.
