The Moose and Fiddle Music Festival is back.

The annual music festival opens today at Caliper Provincial Park, with a number of musicians taking to the stage.

Festival Curator Denise Lysak describes it as a little indie, a little rock and a little country with a whole lot of fun.

“We invite musical acts to come to the Moose and Fiddle. On Friday evening and on Saturday, there will be live performances on stage. And around all of that, we wrap a few things to make it just a little bit more fun and entertaining for the listening audience,” says Lysak.

Among those performing are Sierra Noble, Amanda Rheaume and the Slocan Ramblers.

Noble kicks off a powerhouse of women’s performances at 5 p.m. tonight. They will be followed by Little Miss Higgins and Belle Plain.

Saturday will feature the Kitchen Party, where a number of the acts jam live on stage.

Siouxperboat and Friends, Low Lily, a duo from Vermont, Rheaume and the Slocan Ramblers also perform.

The music on Saturday gets underway at 2 p.m.

There is also an artisan’s village, featuring area artists, crafters and food trucks.

There is also a craft beer tent.

“And this year, all of the profits will support the women’s shelter Saakaate House in Kenora. They are volunteering under that tent to raise money for their programming and services” says Lysak.

You still pick up weekend passes online, with tickets available at the box office at the festival gate.

Lysak says sales at the gate will be cash only.
