CHESTER, NOVA SCOTIA — In a heartwarming turn of events, the Chester Playhouse, which suffered a devastating fire during a restoration project in June 2021, has risen from the ashes and reopens its doors to the public with a vibrant street festival. The revival marks the culmination of a determined two-year reconstruction effort that has brought the beloved community landmark back to life.

The community celebration, scheduled for this weekend, promises an array of festivities designed to captivate every attendee. Festivities will kick off with a community procession starting at the Chester Legion and winding down Queen Street, culminating at the reconstructed Playhouse. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the official unveiling of the new building, symbolizing the resilience and unity of the community.
Following the inauguration, attendees will be treated to a series of outdoor performances by a stellar lineup of musicians. Notable acts include local favorites Dark & Stormy, Nova Scotia Roots Reggae vocalist Jah’Mila, and Celtic duo Cassie & Maggie. To further engage visitors, the event will feature an Artisan Market showcasing the work of local craftsmen and artists. Attendees can also explore the surrounding stores for special offers and browse booths displaying the creations of local artisans.
One of the highlights of the day is the opportunity to tour the newly constructed theatre building. Led by a welcoming committee, attendees can delve into the architectural marvel that has been meticulously restored. The theatre is poised to become a hub for entertaining live events, offering the community a space for shared experiences and artistic enrichment.
