Back-to-school shoppers are more focused on lower priced items this year.

According to a National Consumer Research survey, about 73% of Canadians plan to spend more than $50.00 for back to school.

However, the number of those planning to spend less than $50.00 has increased by 3.4% compared to 2022.

They plan to spend more on supplies and stationery, while putting off buying higher priced items such as furniture.

The number 1 category which people are spending on for back to school is stationery and clothing is number 2.

Meanwhile, twice as many Canadians surveyed say they will shop in person, compared to 41% last year.

Only 19% of Canadians say they’ll shop online for back-to-school items.
