Attempted murder suspect arrested in Shuniah

A Brampton man wanted by Peel Regional Police for attempted murder has been arrested following an incident Monday evening in Shuniah.

Early Saturday morning officers with the Peel Regional Police Service began an investigation into an altercation between two people in Mississauga, which resulted in one being shot in the chest.

Fortunately according to a media release, the injuries were not life threatening.

On Monday evening, members of the Thunder Bay Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police apprehended the 23 year old man at the Shuniah landfill.

He’s been charged with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder with a Firearm
  • Discharging Firearm with the Intent to Wound, Maim, or Disfigure
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Utter Threats to Cause Death
  • Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm;
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
  • Pointing a Firearm

The release from Peel Regional Police states he is being held for a bail hearing.
