Friday, August 25th is the deadline to apply to the Co-starter 2.0 program offered in Kenora and Thunder Bay.

Cory Jones from the Northwest Innovation Center says this is an accelerator program.

“12 weeks is the formal portion of the program, but then afterwards obviously the goal and the hope is that they do stick around for more than just the 12 weeks,” says Jones.

“To access the follow-on financing and follow-on investment opportunity that’s available.”

Jones says the idea is to attract a new business to the area.

“The goal is or hope is this year is to position it as more of a business attraction campaign, to try to get a new  start-up company to come and locate their operation, with some funding available to them.”

Jones says $18,000 is available initially and up to $250,000 can be accessed through follow-on financing.
