Three arrests have been made after officers seized illegal cigarettes and liquor in the Campbellton area.

The Department of Justice and Public Safety said in a Monday news release that the arrests involved three separate incidents.

A 49-year-old man from Beresford was arrested after more than 13,000 contraband cigarettes were seized.

He is facing charges under the Tobacco Tax Act and the Criminal Code, according to the news release.

In two other incidents, officers arrested a 47-year-old Saint John man and a 61-year-old Escuminac man.

They are facing charges under the Liquor Control Act for allegedly transporting more than 1,900 cans of beer across provincial boundaries.
