Ride to the Shield arrives in Kenora Saturday

By Tim Davidson Aug 18, 2023 | 6:05 PM

A soldier from CFB Shilo, Manitoba will arrive in Kenora tomorrow (Saturday) to wind up his Ride to the Shield.

Rob Nederlof is riding 1,000 kilometers to raise funds for the Wounded Warriors foundation.

He says he’s been doing this for the past three years.

“So we provide funding for the Wounded Warriors PTSD support dog program,” Nederlof said from a stop in Winnipeg.

“These are dogs that are trained for PTSD sufferers.”

Rob’s wife Marina says their goal is to raise funds to train one dog each year.

“Any contributions that are given makes it just that much closer for one dog to be matched with a PTSD sufferer, to get them back out to society and what we would consider a normal life.”

Nederlof started his trek on August 11th in Saskatoon.

So far he’s raised over 53 thousand dollars to train the PTSD dogs.
