City man faces armed robbery charges

City police have arrested a 30 year old Thunder Bay man in connection to an armed robbery on the north side.

Officers were dispatched to one of homeless encampments near Peal Street Saturday morning to reports of an armed robbery suspect in the area.

The robbery occurred the previous evening at a Circle K on Cumberland Street North, when the accused entered the store threatened staff with a knife then fled on foot with money and merchandise.

A brief search led officers to the corner of Algoma and Dufferin Streets where he was arrested without incident.

He’s been charged with:

• Armed Robbery
• Disguise with Intent
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He appeared in bail court Sunday and has since been remanded into custody.
