Saint John bowling alley undergoes renovations for new bowling lanes

Fairview Bowling Lanes has temporarily closed its doors to undergo renovations.

The family-owned business in Saint John’s north end started renovations of its bowling lanes on Aug. 7.

“We are replacing the wooden lanes with synthetic ones,” said Peter Haslett, owner of Fairview Bowling Lanes.

“This is being done partially by necessity, and in part, to maintain a high-quality bowling experience for our customers.”

Having been in operation since the 1960s, Haslett said the business has been in his family for over 40 years.

“We aim to provide a clean, family-friendly atmosphere, and take pride in our friendly staff,” he said.

Haslett said the last time that Fairview Bowling Lanes underwent major renovations was in 2006 when they installed automatic scoring systems. This made them the first bowling alley in Atlantic Canada with fully automated scoring.

Following the installation of the new bowling lanes, Haslett said they expect to be able to continue serving the community for another 25 years or more.

Renovations are expected to be done within the next couple of weeks, with Fairview Bowling Lanes reopening in September for everyone to enjoy the new place.
