Jamie Myra wins Lunenburg mayoral election

The Town of Lunenburg has officially declared Jamie Myra as the victor of the Lunenburg Special Mayoral Election. Jamie Myra secured a total of 811 votes, while the runner-up, Gale Fullerton, garnered 377 votes.

With the closing of the polls at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 12, the town recorded a total of 2021 eligible voters. The voter turnout for the election was 59%, slightly lower than the 2020 general election’s turnout of 64.1%.

The Mayor-elect is set to take the oath of office during the upcoming Council meeting on Tuesday, September 12, at 6:00 PM. Until that time, Acting Mayor Peter Mosher will continue to fulfill his role. Following the swearing-in ceremony, Acting Mayor Mosher will resume his position as Deputy Mayor.

The Town of Lunenburg extends its congratulations to both candidates, acknowledging their dedication to civic engagement and their contributions to the electoral process.
