The Halifax Regional Police are looking for a man who assaulted a teenage lifeguard at the newly opened Halifax Commons Aquatic Facility last month.

They say the incident happened on July 8, at around 7 p.m., when the 15-year-old lifeguard approached the man in relation to pool policies. They say the man responded by assaulting the teenager. He fled the scene in a black four-door Honda Civic before officers arrived.

Police describe the suspect as a Black man in his 40’s, approximately 250 lbs., with tattoos on both arms, a short beard, and long black hair that was tied back.

Anyone with information in relation to the incident or the identity of the suspect, or who has video from the area, is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
