Avalon lithium deposit bigger after analysis

By Adam Riley Aug 11, 2023 | 4:00 PM

Some good news from Avalon Advanced Materials as it works to establish itself further in the region as a new resources estimate has it surpassing the 10 million tonne mark.

The estimate is based upon 98 drill holes at its Separation Rapids lithium deposit,  located 70km north of Kenora, and represents a 20% increase over numbers released in 2018

These numbers are being worked into a feasibility study due early next year, with hopes to start mining operations in 2026.

Based upon the current analysis there are estimates of another three to six million tonnes of further exploration potential.

In addition to mining operations Avalon also intends to develop a processing facility at the former Abitibi mill site in Thunder Bay, and recently signed an agreement with a Finnish company to build the facility on that site.
