Family and friends mourn the loss of the 26-year-old killed near Halifax waterfront

Friends and family have been mourning the loss of the 26-year-old man who was killed this weekend on the Halifax Waterfront.

Halifax Regional police officially ruled the death a homicide today, after the man was badly beaten and later died after being taken to hospital.

They have identified the victim as Davelle Raymond Vance Desmond, from Dartmouth. Online message of condolences have been pouring in as his friends and family mourn his loss.

Halifax Regional Police first received a report of the assault at about 9:40 p.m. on Sunday night. It happened on the Halifax waterfront in area of the 1500 block of Lower Water Street.

Desmond’s uncle has set up a GoFundMe page to help Desmond’s mother pay for the funeral costs. In it he shares that Desmond was expecting a baby with his girlfriend in November. Loved ones have been sharing messages of mourning on Facebook, remembering the young man who was taken too soon.
