Man charged with committing indignity to a dead body

A city man has been charged in connection to an ongoing sudden death investigation on the city’s south side.

Police were investigating a home on Norah Avenue in relation to a missing person’s case, which resulted in investigators locating a deceased female on August 2nd.

As a result of the investigation, a 27 year old man was identified as handling the human remains in a way “consistent criminal Indignity to a Dead Body”.

He was arrested without incident Thursday afternoon and appeared in court today charged with:

• Indignity to Dead Body
• Failure to Comply with Probation Order

The accused has been released with a future court appearance.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues into the sudden death, with a post mortem scheduled to take place in Toronto.

Police remain posted at the scene.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time.
