Work to fix up a section of the Coker Road, closed since last November, is expected to begin soon.

The area is east of the Kelly Road.

Remediation includes grading without adding additional material, ditching and culvert repairs.

That section of road could open by the end of this month, in time for the start of school.

The city says the remedial work is contingent on weather conditions and other factors that could delay the work.

In addition, the realignment of that section of road is being included in the 2024 budget at a cost of about $3 million.

Stantec Engineering and the city will continue to monitor the road to ensure it’s safe to travel on.
