The Granite Centre in Moncton has given the green light for the construction of a sixth plaza.
Trevor McLeod, president of The Gray Group, which oversees the Granite Centre, said in an interview in early July that they were hoping to get construction going within the next few months.
However, will the recent announcement of having the green light to go ahead and start, it seems that they are now ahead of their anticipated schedule.
Coming this fall, the Granite Centre will welcome Thai Express into plaza five, leaving only one vacant space available throughout all the plazas. This led to them giving the go-ahead to commence construction on plaza six.
“[We have] the intention on having it weather tight by late fall,” says MacLeod.
Plaza six will be a 14,400-square-foot strip mall, similar to plaza five which is home to Simply for Life and Take It Outside. However, this new plaza will have more smaller spaces available, rather than fewer large ones.
In a recent announcement on Facebook, the Granite Centre shared that plaza six will be home to 12 different units, all ranging from 1,015 to 1,200 square feet in size.
“We’re trying to service some smaller tenants that maybe can’t take the larger spaces that we have now,” says MacLeod.

“We’re very positive in the [Granite Centre] development, and we’ll continue to develop that over the next several years,” says MacLeod.
