A 24 year old city man has been arrested after he attacked paramedics and police officers who were attempting to assist him Sunday night.

Officers were called to the area of Simpson and Gore Streets shortly before 9:00 p.m when the patient became combative with Superior North EMS personnel.

Officers learned as the paramedics were tending to the accused, he began kicking and threatening to attack them.

Things escalated when he attacked one of the responding officers attempting to assist, before turning on one of the paramedics, spitting in their face and eye.

He then continued to fight damaging equipment within the ambulance, before being arrested.

While still in need of medical attention the accused was taken to hospital for treatment.

He faces several charges including:
• Mischief Under $5,000
• Assault Peace Officer x 2
• Failure to Comply with Undertaking

Charges have not been formally sworn against the accused in court, however he has since been released from custody on conditions.
