Thunder Bay Police have arrested and charged two city residents in connection to this weekend’s collision which damaged the Chippewa Park Carousel.

Officers were called to the park shortly after 7:30 a.m. Saturday to reports of a single motor vehicle collision.

Police then learned a man and a woman, who were in the vehicle at the time of the incident, fled the scene on foot.

It was later determined the vehicle they were in had been stolen earlier that morning.

At 1:25 p.m. the 26 year old male suspect turned himself into police at the Balmoral Street headquarters, while officers later had to go out and arrest the 24 year old female suspect later that evening.

Both have been charged with:
• Mischief over $5,000
• Theft of Motor Vehicle

They have since been released from custody on conditions and a future court appearance date.
