Gold River, Nova Scotia – The search for a 31-year-old man who went missing while tubing in Gold River has come to an end, as authorities believe he was swept out to sea. The incident, which occurred on July 24 at approximately 6:30 p.m., prompted an exhaustive search effort led by the Lunenburg District RCMP, with assistance from multiple agencies.

According to the Lunenburg District RCMP, the man had been tubing with two other individuals when his tube capsized, and he was last seen drifting downstream. In response to the report of the missing swimmer, a coordinated effort was launched, involving the RCMP Air Services, RCMP Police Dog Services, the Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre, the Chester Volunteer Fire Department, the Western Shore Fire Department, and ground search and rescue teams from various jurisdictions.

Despite the extensive search covering all relevant areas, authorities now believe that the man was swept out to sea. As a result, the search efforts have been concluded, but the case will remain open. New search activities will be considered if any new information comes to light.

The disappearance of a loved one can have profound and far-reaching effects on the person and their community. At this difficult time, the authorities express their deepest sympathies and thoughts for the man’s family, friends, and the Gold River community.
