Nine local athletes compete at NAIG

The Dryden area was well-represented at the North American Indigenous Games in Halifax.

The games wrapped up on Sunday.

Representing the Dryden area were:

Casey Gardner in U19 male softball,  Lindy Gardner  in U16 female softball where she won gold.

Also medalling was MacKenzie Harrington in U19 female softball, claiming bronze and Phoenix Delorme winning silver in U19 Soccer.

Cole Mitchell competed in baseball  and Skyler Achneepineskum was in the wrestling competition.

From Ignace, Sydney Cloutier won a silver medal in U19 female badminton.

And from Sioux Lookout Jayvan Beardy played U16 male volleyball and Haylee Bouchard won a silver medal      U19 female box Lacrosse division.

756 First Nations across North America sent athletes to compete.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the opening ceremonies.
