A 34 year old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested during a welfare check by officers from the Sioux Lookout detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police Saturday.
While on foot patrol on Front Street just before 5:00 p.m. the officers located a man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and or alcohol according to the OPP.
While checking on his welfare, the man got up and advanced towards the officers with an undisclosed weapon, where he was quickly arrested.
Fortunately nobody involved was injured in the incident.
The accused has been charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
He appeared in bail court Sunday.
