Positive reviews for the Food Cycler pilot

By Tim Davidson Jul 21, 2023 | 12:18 PM

The Food Cycler pilot program in Kenora has to be considered a success.

A survey was conducted on the compost system.

Of the 500 Food Cyclers subsidized by the city, 218 people responded.

99 % of those surveyed say they will continue to use the heat-based composter and 75 percent say they would give the program five stars out of five.

83 % say they saw their garbage use reduced each month and less than two percent say they noticed an increase in electricity costs.

On average, the Food Cycler was used 3.11 times a week.

In all, the program has reduced 58 metric tonnes, or 58,000 kilograms of waste from the landfill since the pilot was started.
