The first day of fishing at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship gets underway tomorrow.

But the event kicks off tonight with the boat parade.

Spokesperson Jeanette Cawston says it will travel down Front Street from the Sorting Gap Marina to LaVerendrye Hospital as soon as the angler meeting is complete.

“It starts on Wednesday, right after the angler meeting. The angler meetings are at 4 p.m., and right after is the boat parade, probably 5 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., that the boat parade will get going. If you’re an angler, if you’ve got a team in, or you’re going to be putting a team into the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, make sure you’re part of the boat parade,” says Cawston.

About 115 angling teams are taking part this year.

Cawston says there is still an opportunity to fish the tournament.

“Yes, there is. Right up until the day of the tournament, they can still register. I believe now we’re at about 116 teams. It is a great opportunity for them if they still want to get in and be part of this tournament, which is a wonderful event for the whole district and International Falls,” says Cawston.

On the entertainment schedule, there is a teen dance tonight at 8 p.m., with MJ Interactive providing the music.

Skye Wallace and Goodnight Sunrise take to the stage on Thursday night.

Quest for the Best happens Friday night, with Some S****y Cover Band finishing it up on Saturday night.
