Seafest begins today in Yarmouth.

The 11-day festival highlights life by the sea with lots of activities.

The Classic Car Cruise and Car Show go this Friday and Saturday downtown.

Seafest President Darryl LeBlanc says there’s a new event this year.

“We’re having pedal boat races, we have three of them, starting this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lake Milo. We think this is going to be a really popular event,” said LeBlanc.

Favourites like the Children’s Parade and Picnic in the Park, the Herring Toss and entertainment on the waterfront return.

LeBlanc says there are 30-35 people helping out behind the scenes.

“We started meeting in September, and we met all of last year and through the spring. The last six weeks, we’ve stepped up our planning and preparation. We are good to go.”
