N.S. home prices holding steady as sales decline

By Kevin Northup Jul 7, 2023 | 11:56 AM

Home sales are down slightly in Nova Scotia.

In June, they were nearly 12 percent lower than the same period in 2022.

The Nova Scotia Association of Realtors says while new listings fell by over a quarter, the average price of a home rose by just over 6 percent.

Regional Director in Yarmouth Robert Nelson says it’s a good time for local buyers.

“The market has changed a lot from 2021 to 2022, mostly due to rising interest rates and a lack of buyers from Ontario. This gives our local buyers a good chance to get a property,” said Nelson.

He says home sales topped $550 million last month in the province, which is still a huge number.
