High heat, humidity to wrap up the week

By Brad Perry Jul 5, 2023 | 12:55 PM

A warm-up is on the way for much of New Brunswick starting on Thursday.

Environment Canada issued a heat warning for the entire province on Wednesday afternoon.

The long-awaited return of sunshine means highs will reach into the low 30s.

Jill Maepea, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the humidex values will be closer to 39.

“Friday looks to be the warmest day with the highest humidex values,” Maepea said in an interview Wednesday.

Conditions will be cooler in areas along the Fundy coast, according to the meteorologist.

Maepea said temperatures will begin to cool off over the weekend as more showers return early next week.

But if you are looking for a break from the high humidity, you will need to wait a little bit longer.

“The humidity looks like it’s going to stick around for the short term beyond this little heat wave,” said Maepea.
