Thunder Bay Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision which took place Monday afternoon in the intercity area, sending two pedestrians to hospital with life threatening injuries.

First responders were called to the Simpson Street and Northern Avenue area just before 3:30 p.m. when a vehicle struck two pedestrians before fleeing the scene.

No description of the vehicle or the driver has been made available at this time.

A considerable police presence remains in the area and motorists can expect “extreme” traffic disruptions.

The public is asked to avoid the area until further notice.
