A 41 year old Thunder Bay man has been arrested on charges of second degree murder in connection to the city’s third homicide of 2023.

Officers were called to a Mary Street East home just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday where a woman, who had been the victim of an assault, had died.

On Wednesday, police reached out for support from the community, seeking video footage of both the immediate area of the scene, and an area near Arthur and Vickers Streets.

That same day investigators were able to identify a male suspect, who conveniently was already in police custody on an unrelated matter.

He’s been charged with:
• Second-Degree Murder
• Breach of Probation x 2

The accused is expected to appear in court today.

Meanwhile the investigation remains ongoing.
