Suncor cyberattack affecting Petro-Canada stations

A cyberattack is to blame for issues with Petro-Canada stations preventing customers from paying with credit, debit, or gift cards at the pumps or being able to access their Petro-Points accounts.

The issue has been ongoing since Friday.

Parent company Suncor Energy revealed it had a cybersecurity incident on Sunday in a release on its website.

It says the company is working with third-party experts to investigate and resolve the situation.

As well it has notified the appropriate authorities.

At this time Suncor Energy is not aware of any evidence that data for customers, suppliers, or employees has been compromised or misused.

No timeline to when the issue will be resolved has been made available.
