A man has been arrested and charged in relation to shooting threats made against Acadia University earlier this month.

Local RCMP first received reports of the threat on June 6, when Acadia University Safety and Security received an email alerting them of the threats circulating on social media that a shooting would occur at the school in the fall.

Just last week, police shared information with the public that another threat was made against the university. This second threat also threatened violence at the school in the fall and targeted individuals and the campus itself.

After investigating the incidents in accordance with the use of judicial authorizations, RCMP officers identified a suspect.

On June 23, Kings District RCMP, with assistance from RCMP Digital Forensic Services, executed a search warrant at a home on Minas Crescent in relation to the investigation. During the search, officers located and seized electronic devices including a hard drive, computers, a 3D printer, and a cellular phone. They did not find any firearms.

Later that day, a 20-year-old New Minas man turned himself in to the New Minas RCMP detachment.

He is et to appear in provincial court in august where he will face a charge of Personation with Intent. He was released from jail on conditions.
