Synergy North presents annual report to council

By Tim Davidson Jun 27, 2023 | 1:00 PM

Synergy North has presented it’s annual report to the City of Kenora.

The electrical utility operates in both Kenora and Thunder Bay.

President and CEO Tim Wilson says they’ve completed a significant amount of capital work in Kenora last year.

“From last year’s perspective, we spent about $1.76 million,” Wilson told city council at its open meeting last week.

“But really it’s the capital work were we really earn a return on investment for that kind of activity.   So relocations, expansions, whether it’s Railway Street or you’ve got DSAB (District Services Board) getting underway with the work they are doing.”

Wilson says one of the things they have adopted is a vegetation management plan.

“By the end of this year we’ll have all vegetation between the two service territories removed to within one meter of the lines.  But we’ll go into a continuous Vegetation Management plan…which will make it much safer for the public and workers.”

Overall, Wilson says Synergy North says it had about $27 million in distribution revenue last year.
