As staff and employees with Dryden’s Domtar look ahead to their futures with a new company, leadership is thanking the community with $55,000 in donations.

“We are extremely pleased to make these investments to thank the community for hosting Domtar over the last 16 years,” says Vice-President of Communications and Public Affairs, Kathy Wholley.

Investments include:

– $20,000 to the Dryden Regional Hospital Foundation to support purchasing a new ultrasound unit,

– $15,000 to the Dryden Go-Getters to support renovation work and recreational programming,

– $10,000 to Making Connections to Children and Youth to support their recreational programming,

– $10,000 to the Dryden Food Bank to support purchasing new cooler and freezer units,

“We are so pleased to be able to support these organizations as a way of saying ‘thank you’,” adds Wholley. “The Dryden pulp mill has been a strong member of the Domtar manufacturing organization and we wish the employees and the community all the best under the new ownership.”

First Quality Enterprises Inc. is expected to take ownership of the Dryden mill later in 2023.

Employees went through a similar situation in 2021 after Domtar was purchased by the Paper Excellence Group based out of British Columbia.
