4 arrested following Weagamow Lake investigation

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested four people following an assault investigation in Weagamow Lake.

The incident occurred at a residence in the community on June 12th, where one person was assaulted.

Police initially identified only one of the four people charged, a 26 year old man from the community.

He faces one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of breach of probation.

The accused appeared in court on Monday in Kenora and was remanded into custody.

Acadia News filed an inquiry with the OPP on the charges and status of the other three unidentified individuals and.

A 21 year old woman has been charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm

Meanwhile, a 32 year old woman and a 32 year old man have each been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

All three are also residents of Weagamow Lake and were released from custody but will appear in court in North Caribou Lake First Nation on August 24th.

The OPP declined to provide details on the nature of the injuries, aside from they were serious but non life threatening and that the victim was transported to hospital for treatment.
