The first attempt at a Renaissance Fair in Kenora is taking place on Friday.

The Kenora Association for Community Living is hosting the event at Anicinabe Park.

Dylan Shumka-White is helping to organize it and says there will be something for everyone, even if you don’t dress up.

“There will be food, there will be jousting, there will be merriment, there will be entertainment, there will be dancing, a parade of costumes…everyone is welcome to dress up,” Shumka-White said following a presentation Wednesday afternoon at the open meeting of city council.

Shumka-White adds that this is their first attempt at such an event.

“We hope to do an annual Renaissance Fair, so this is kind of our time to try and start it and get it off it’s feet.”

The Renaissance Fair will take place from 11 am until 2 pm on Friday, June 23rd.
