June 21 is the last day residents of the Town of Lunenburg can be added to the List of Electors for the upcoming special election.

For the 2023 Special Election, the List of Electors from the 2021 provincial election will be utilized. This means that individuals who were of voting age during the previous election and have resided in the town since 2021 are likely to be already listed.

However,  there might be residents who are new to the area, have relocated within Lunenburg, or are uncertain about their inclusion in the List of Electors. To address this interested individuals can reach out to wmills@townoflunenburg.ca or call 902-634-4410 ext. 221. Alternatively, they can visit Town Hall in person for assistance.

To make any changes or additions to the List of Electors, individuals will be required to verify their identity. They may be asked to provide their name, street address, and date of birth for authentication purposes.

For those who missed the revision period, there is still an opportunity to add their names to the List of Electors until and including the voting day, which is scheduled for August 12. To do so, residents can contact kbyrne@townoflunenburg.ca or visit Town Hall in person.

As the 2023 Special Election approaches, the Town of Lunenburg urges all eligible voters to ensure their presence on the List of Electors and participate in shaping the future of the town through their votes.

As of now, the election is just for the position of Mayor which was vacated earlier this year, however, the town has made provisions to also run an election for council seats in the event a current councilor vacates their seat to pursue the mayoral office.
