Halifax Regional Centre for Education has launched a third-party review on the stabbings at Charles P. Allen.

A letter to parents, from Steve Gallagher, the Executive Director at HRCE, says the review will start next week and to be expected in the fall.

The review will be conducted by:

  • Rosalind Penfound, former deputy minister of education and former vice-president of organizational development with the Nova Scotia Community College;
  • Krista Smith, a lawyer with background in labour and employment law, a member of the Nova Scotia Mass Casualty Commission and founder of Root & Branch Workplace Conflict Resolutions;
  • Rick Tully, former HRCE principal, school supervisor and safe schools’ consultant, and education consultant with Education and Early Childhood Development.

It will include a timeline of the event, policies, protocols and practices as well as the impact on the school community and what steps will be taken.

A 15-year-old stabbed two staff members and himself in March at the Bedford High School.

The teen recently pleaded not guilty to several charges including attempted murder.
