Norseman Festival issues invite to the region

By Randy Thoms Jun 19, 2023 | 3:59 PM

It is just over one month before the return of the Norseman Festival in Red Lake.

It will take place July 21-23.

Organizers are reaching out to vendors and businesses across the region to take part.

Chair Dwayne Riddell says they get more than three thousand people each year to the three-day event.

“There’s plenty of opportunity for people to showcase their wares. We have lots of room both in the park, and we have an event center that’s located right adjacent to the park with a covered building for inclement weather. So we have lots of room for vendors to participate and good facilities to allow them to do that,” says Riddell.

This year’s event includes music, activities connected to the aviation theme, children’s games, and an aerial aerobatic performance.

One of the highlights will be a flypast.

“We have a Harvard and a Norseman flypast. For those who don’t know, the Harvard and the Norsemen were built in the same factory pre-war, so they have lots in common,” says Riddell.

“And we have participation from all the local airlines and tourist camps with their aircraft in a flypast on Sunday afternoon.”

Riddell says the show is constantly growing and always looking for new people.

“Anyone that wants to participate in the fly pass, that has something unique to offer us, they’re certainly welcome to talk to me, and we may be able to include them in the flypast.”
